Getting thrown off course with ache & pain
One thing I've learned about having a set back is that the longer I laid around, the sluggish I felt. You have to know the difference when you need to stop and let your body recover from ache and pains and when you just putting moving around off until the next feel great day.
The minute you think you need to get your groove back is the minute you take action. Don't wait until you feel 100% good enough because that moment may never come. From my experience, and I also heard this from a professional trainer, your body is better off whenever you get up and start moving and being active. If you had a routine before you went down, you have to get back on track and do what your body was adept to doing in order to feel better. Even after my mom had her Major surgery, as soon as she was aware of her surroundings, they wanted her up and moving. The Doctors and Therapies knew the longer her body was at rest the stiffer she would have been.
In my mom cast she had no choice but to move although she wasn't ready. All my mom knew, was that every time she moved, she felt pain. She wanted to wait until all the pain stopped, but to be discharged she had to push through that pain. It was tough, but eventually it got a little manageable. Today she still do a lot of sitting, and of course she gets stiff and sore. The difference now is her mind frame is focus on walking. She wants to walk on her own more than anything. Its a blessing when she can make it to the bathroom or help herself in the vehicle. Every step she makes now is a little closer to how her lifestyle used to be. That feel great day may never come for my mom because she doesn't move around enough. As you know the more you sit, the stiffer you get. You can't have stiffness without the ache and pains. If she wasn't moving at all things could be much..much worst!!! She's bless with by taking baby step
If you are well enough to think it, don't hesitate, get up and get moving.
