Small Things Matter
This story may or may not relate to you, but what I’m about to tell you is true and very emotional to me. If you have not read my blog about Surviving under stressful situations, please read it. I spoke about having to take care of my mom after she had two spinal surgeries and I’m the youngest of five siblings doing all the work. Make sure you check out that blog so that you will understand what I’m about to tell you now.
From my experience as a Home Health Aid, I’ve learned that taking care of loved ones have there ups and downs. We have no control over adversities. Things happen in our lives that break us down or slow our role. My mishap happened two years ago when I had to slow my role and change my lifestyle around to take care of my mom. I don’t mind caring for my mom and making her feel as comfortable and normal as possible. My problem is that I’m not appreciated for what I do. I’m not looking for money, fame or flowers. A simple thank you will do.
Some mornings my mom wakeup in a lot of pain. Her joints are stiff and tight and she can’t move freely. I hate seeing my mom suffering, crying and there’s nothing I can do. Times when she is in misery, she takes it out on me. Most times I over look when she’s talking out her head. Pain will make you say and do some selfish hurtful things at times. Its not easy being helpless. It’s also not easy being the care taker, misunderstanding and disagreements can damage good hearted people. A simple thank you can inspire someone to do better. A nice comment can make someone smile.
I work a full time job 6 days a week. I don’t have biological children but I take care of my niece. I render music for the church I attend. I try to workout 5 days a week and I do my best with everything else. I give my time and service for free and I get chewed out when things don’t go as planned. So yes, Small things matter to me. I have a friend at work that support me more than my family by listening to my problems. I’ve met so many people on social media that encourage me everyday to be better than I was yesterday. For being notice by Kelly Olaxa , CEO and founder of #fitFluential, matters to me. By meeting coach Lauren that tells me I’m doing a great job which I know it could have been better makes me feel good. Her words of encouragements matter to me. I am so blessed to be notice by so many great people.
I don’t know your problems or situations but know that someone is watching you. Someone is listening and they care
